Instagram Will Catch Children Acting Older with Artificial Intelligence!
Young people are trying different ways to get rid of the 'child restrictions' on Instagram, but META does not stand idly by against this move.
Young people who want to get rid of the 'child restrictions' on Instagram can pretend to be older, even though they are not yet 18 years old. This is what Zukerberg is now turning to.
Zukerberg will be able to detect these fake age statements with artificial intelligence and direct young children back to restricted accounts.
Using artificial intelligence, Meta will estimate the age of Instagram users and automatically add people under the age of 18 to its youth account if it believes they are lying about their age.
Reactions about the impact of social media on the mental health of young people in general are increasing day by day. Heeding this voice, Meta introduced the 'young account' feature in September. Teen accounts for kids ages 13-17 have built-in limits on who can interact with them and what content they can see. These accounts automatically hide potentially offensive comments and messages. Everything is good so far, but there is an important detail that is skipped or ignored.
This app only works if young people under 18 are honest about their age. However, most young people avoid this restriction by declaring their age to be over 18. This is where the artificial intelligence that Meta will bring into play comes into play.
The software tool called 'adult classifier' developed by Meta will be activated next year and will detect children who look older, thanks to artificial intelligence.
