Instagram, the most frequently used social media platform, is moving step by step towards a serious change. This innovation, which made a big impact even in the testing phase, is related to the Instagram profile page size. Let's take a look at the innovation in the testing phase together.

Is the Instagram profile page changing?

Instagram is in the testing phase of a new profile feed that includes rectangular images instead of the square ones we are used to.

Adam Mossari announced this innovation in an Instagram story he published. Although the original square grids were appreciated by users when they were first released, time passes quickly and needs change. While the square photo sharing part is slowly becoming a thing of the past, the vast majority of uploads on Instagram are done vertically, especially 4 x 3 images and 9 x 16 videos. We think that Instagram must have felt the need to make a change when user preferences are like this.

As you know, when you click on the video tab of Instagram, you see a rectangular grid. Therefore it is not an experimental profile page design. Heat is not a foreign design. Instagram spokesperson reminded that the test was offered to a small number of users and that the Instagram team may make different improvements after listening to the feedback.

If this update is implemented, every user will now have to share rectangular posts. Of course, not everyone is happy with this situation. Page images of brands and influencers who try to give a stylish look to their Instagram profile page will be distorted. However, we are not sure whether this situation will change minds about the new design.
